Favorite cocktail:
That is an impossible question for me to answer. What time of day is it? What season is it? What am I doing? I have different favorite cocktails for just about every occasion.
Favorite Beija cocktail (we love shameless plugs):
2 oz Beija with .5 oz french vermouth, .5 oz stock maraschino, .25 oz pastis and angostura bitters. Garnish with a lemon twist.
Craziest cocktail name you've heard:
I block them all out...
Miscellaneous funny story involving a customer:
The guest who asked for some angeldust instead of the Stardust Cocktail.
Craziest cocktail you've ever made:
Anything involving Pucker is crazy. And I try to stay at least 100 yards away from it at all times.
Advice for an aspiring mixologist: Go out on your nights off. Try things outside of your "comfort zone." Ask questions about the cocktails and spirits when it's appropriate, i.e. if it's busy, drink your cocktail and let the bartender help the other guests. If you want to put your mixology skills to work as a bartender, be humble and gracious. No one likes to be waited on by a know it all. Always think about your guest, as the bar doesn't exist without them. In every situation imagine yourself in their shoes.
